The Skills Academy for Health London works closely with the Learning and Skills Council, the Learning Development Agency and the European Social Fund to support the health sector to develop a skilled, flexible and productive workforce to improve the quality of health and healthcare.
We manage and monitor externally funded projects which support the development of individuals currently working in the health sector, or individuals who may be interested in working in the health sector by offering various qualifications and training.
Working in conjunction with local training providers, councils and colleges we’ve recently supported nearly 250 people through NVQ Level 3’s and Registered Managers Awards (RMA’s), over 100 people through E3-L1 Skills for Life and nearly 250 through additional one day leadership and management workshops.

Skills Academy for Health London is working in close partnership with a broad spectrum of organisations across London who provides NVQ L2 & L3 Awards in:

The Train to Gain project is designed to support many employers who struggle to get the right training which is tailored to their organisational needs in the Health sector. Investment in the Train to Gain service is expanding to help even more businesses and individuals get the training they need to succeed.
Skills Academy for Health London are providing NVQ’s at Level 2 through the European Social Fund for individuals who already have a full Level 2 qualification that might not be relevant to their role, or perhaps out of date.

The project focuses on employees or the self-employed in the private, independent and voluntary health sectors who have gained a qualification at or above Level 2 but, for one reason or another wish to develop and upskill themselves in a work area which they are not qualified in. Those who aren’t eligible for Train to Gain funded courses can often access courses via this project.
The project aims to tackle worklessness amongst parents on benefits or on working tax credits with English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) needs in East and South East City Strategy Pathfinder area and help them to find sustainable employment and bring them and their children out of the poverty trap.

The Enterprises on Track project is funded by the London Development Agency and aims to bring together the expertise of five organisations to support women entrepreneurs to develop health focused businesses. This is achieved through the provision of business development courses, workshops, mentoring and one to one business support.
Qualifications Available:
To date, over 500 women have registered interest in the programme and over 100 have completed the Enterprise for Women programme at London Metropolitan University. These women have then gone on to establish their own businesses including holistic health practices, neurorehabilitation programmes and community action groups.
